Saint Michael the Archangel
Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of Boston. Hudson, Massachusetts
The Mass is the most important sacramental celebration of the Church, and it always follows a set order and this is universal throughout the world.
The Mass follows a “fundamental structure which has been preserved throughout the centuries down to our own day”.(Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 1346).
Though the Mass is one unified act of worship, it consists of many parts, each with its own purpose and meaning.
The Mass: An Introduction
The Mass: An Introduction is a four part series presented by the Archdiocese of Mobile in association with 4PM Media. The series features Archbishop Rodi with Fr. Victor Ingalls, Dr. Norman McCrummen, and Dr. Allison Meyer.
The series asks four questions:
1) Why worship on Sundays?
2) Why a meal?
3) Why do we worship the way we do?
4) Why does the extraordinary come to us in ordinary ways?
The Mass Series
In the Roman Rite, the Mass is made up of two principal parts: the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. It begins with the Introductory Rites and ends with the Concluding Rites. This video describes and explains each of the parts found in "The Order of Mass".
"The Mass Series" also has a multi-part version with separate short videos concentrating on each specific part of the Mass.
These videos can be found on our website page, called "The Order of Mass".
Elements of the Catholic Mass
Elements of the Catholic Mass is designed to help the faithful better appreciate the beauty of the Mass. Featuring experts from the Liturgical Institute, the program consists of beautifully produced short videos of 2-5 minutes.
