Last Sunday afternoon we celebrate our fourth annual Carol Sing in the upper church. As usual, it was an afternoon of prayer and inspiration. This year, our choirs were joined by choir members from Holy Trinity Parish of Bolton/Harvard. The combined voices added depth and beauty to the music and made for a tremendous rendition of the Halleluiah Chorus which concluded the afternoon.
This is a wonderful tradition which provides not only beautiful and reverent worship on the Feast of the Epiphany, but adds to our sense of parish community.
Thanks go out to all those who participated, especially John Volpe our music director and Sally Guidotti who continues to provide her talented accompaniment.
The Christmas Season officially ends this weekend with the Celebration of the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. This marks the beginning of the public ministry of Jesus in his role as Messiah. Very little is known about those early years of Jesus’ life before today’s feast. Presumably, he grew up as all children did at that time, uneventfully, but as the scriptures say: growing in wisdom and understanding.
We now enter into ordinary time until Lent arrives and we prepare once again for the celebration of Easter and the Resurrection.
Over New Year’s, we had some trouble with the light control panel in the church. When we called the serviceman, he told us the panel was over thirty years old. Fortunately he has serviced us over the years and had some parts we needed. It is up and running now. Anyone who has occasion to turn lights on and off in the upper church, PLEASE follow the printed directions. All lights must be turned off before a new selection is made. We would like to be able to keep this costly panel for at least a few more years!
