FR. RON’S RAMBLINGS!
This weekend and all month long we are celebrating a gift – the gift of Mothers!
First and foremost we each remember our own mothers who gave us life and the nurture we needed to grow into the adults we have become. From mothers in the wild to human mothers, there is an innate sense of attachment and protection of the baby and then the child. Mothering is not an easy task, and never has been. Yet it can be a deeply rewarding life experience. And we are all the better because of their love and devotion.
We also remember all the mothers who are here today and who continue to discern how to be the best mothers, grandmothers, and even greatgrandmothers that they can be. As I observe the interactions between mothers and their children, especially at Masses and particularly during these days of First Communions, the pride and love of their children is so evident.
There are also numerous women in our world and parish who lovingly take of the role of mothering so many children who come into their care. Even if they have not given birth biologically, they provide life giving love and tenderness to many.
This weekend we also pray for the mothers who struggle with life challenges and prevent them from being the best they could be. Addiction, mental illness, abusive marriages, are all examples that limit the effectiveness of family life. May God bring them healing and hope for their children.
Finally during this month of May we honor in a special way Mary the Mother of God and the Mother of the Church. Characteristic of mothers, her generosity and faith made possible Jesus’ coming into the world and bringing us salvation.
May this weekend bring all mothers the honor and reward they deserve.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!
