As this month of November winds to a close, there are
several things on the horizon. This weekend we
celebrate the Feast of Christ the King, which yearly
marks the conclusion of our liturgical year. It is a
wonderful feast in and of itself as well as the
association with the time of year that brings
Thanksgiving Day.
I am sure you are in preparation mode for that holiday
as I am. I will be celebrating and cooking at my home
in Uxbridge with Fr. Bob, my sister and a friend and
TWO pups. Yes, Fr. Bob got a puppy a couple of weeks
ago. She is a 12 week old yellow lab weighing in at 11
pounds! She loves Abby - chewing on Abby’s tail and
ears and anywhere she can get her mouth. Abby is more
tolerant than I would be (AM) of the nipping. Anyhow,
it should be an interesting day!
As usual we are planning the Annual Thanksgiving Day
Mass at 8 a.m. Every year it is a moving celebration of
God’s blessings to us personally as well as in our parish
community. We urge you to put your turkey in the oven
and come to celebrate with us.
I am most thankful for all of you and the wonderful
parish staff we have. So much happens here from day to
day, and it is all taken care of efficiently and pastorally.
I am also thankful for my return to health after a long
summer! I am thankful for good friends and for my
wonderful sister who is steadfast and faithful!
Be sure to take some time to reflect on the blessings in
your own lives during this week. As the story of the ten
lepers reminds us, God likes to be thanked too!!
May you own celebrations be filled with love and
warmth, good food and wine, and may you bask in the
goodness of God’s love for you.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
