This weekend on Sunday afternoon, we will be celebrating
the Sacrament of Confirmation with Fr. Brian Keiley. Fr.
Keiley has taken the place of Bishop Edyvean, who retired
at the end of last year. This important sacrament is the third
Sacrament of Initiation in our faith and completes the
process whereby these young people become full members
of our church. It is the time when we pray that God’s Holy
Spirit will infuse their hearts and fire them up to live out
their faith for the rest of their lives. Often Confirmation is
seen as the end of formation; but in fact it is just the
beginning of a Christian life.
Please pray that these young people are indeed inspired to
see how their lives are guided and led by the Holy Spirit.
Thanks to Andrew Genovese our program coordinator and
all our catechists who have prepared these young adults for
this important moment.
On another note, this weekend is also our Grand Annual
Collection. Each fall we have this special appeal to boost
our income to meet the ongoing expenses in our parish. We
have sent out letters and financial statements to all on our
mailing list and a special envelope was enclosed.
You are welcome to place that envelope in the special
second collection today. If you are not prepared this
weekend, you can give your donation (in that envelope) at
any time, at another weekend offertory, or through the mail.
As you know we depend upon your consistent generosity to
keep our parish financially solvent. We have been
successful so far and I am confident that we will be in the
future.
Thank you in advance for your characteristic generosity!
