As you obviously are aware, the completion of our parking lot has been delayed. The construction company informed us that they were held up in getting some additional permits. That is done now and construction has resumed! All the infrastructure of course, has to be completed before the final product can be done.
t is amazing to watch the heavy machinery moving so much earth from one place to another, and then back again. From the outside looking in, it seems redundant. But what would I know?!?!
It has been a summer of construction as well as painting. The church is coming along nicely. Once the sides are complete, then the back will be done; and finally the front. Seems obvious, but people have been asking and this is the normal process explained by the painters.
Now that August is here (imagine already!), it is time to plan for our annual parish picnic. Sunday, August 30th is the date so be sure to mark your calendars.
Next Sunday, I will be leaving for a couple of weeks of vacation. Thanks to Fr. Chris, I can get away before everything begins in the fall. Chris has agreed to ‘dog sit’ Honey for the first week while we are away. That means that both Abby and Honey will be here on the property. I am sure he is up for the challenge!!
Fr. Chris continues to enjoy his stay in Hudson, walking around everywhere with and without Abby. We have had some good meals together, and a lot of enjoyment and sharing. He has told me about some of the challenges he faces in Africa and the great needs of his community.
As is our custom, later in the month we will have a second collection for him and his community, our way of thanking him and the SMA fathers for their continued summer help. Thanks again for your generosity
