As I write this column during the last few days of my vacation, I am very conscious that Fr. Peter is packing and getting ready to return to Ireland on Thursday. As usual, it has been a pleasure having him with us and providing me the coverage I needed to get away. I am most grateful to him and pray for his safe return to Ireland. We look forward to welcoming him back next year!
It is also around this time that we begin to prepare to welcome a priest from the African Missionary Fathers. As you know, we have had one visit us for the last several summers and we have been promised another this year. However, details about their arrivals are most often last minute as it takes many months to secure visas and other legal documents. But we anticipate his arrival with excitement, usually around July 1!
Personally, I find their presence in the rectory enriching and enlivening and a great source of company, especially after this long winter! Even Abby seems to welcome a new face and some additional attention!
Finally this weekend, we have a representative from the Propagation of the Faith who will be here for the annual Mission Cooperative collection. She will be speaking at most of the Masses and we again know that you will be your characteristically generous selves!
