This weekend we celebrate the Second Sunday in the Easter Season. We have once again had a beautiful Holy Week observance thanks to so many people who give of their time and gifts, especially our musicians, our liturgy committee, and our art and environment people who provide such attractive decorations which enhance our worship. You may have noticed this year our flower assortment did not include any Easter Lilies. The reason is that Fr.Ron St. Pierre has an allergy to them and the last thing we needed was to make him uncomfortable (at the least) after all he has done for St. Michael’s over these months!
On this weekend our gospel reading is one in a series of readings that we call the post-Resurrection appearances of Jesus. These appearances always come in a surprising way; Jesus reveals that He is the Risen Lord, no longer among the dead and He invites those He appears to, to spread that news that HE is alive.
Today, so many hundreds of years later we continue to do just that: we spend fifty days after every Easter Sunday, praying, reflecting, and proclaiming the Resurrection of Jesus. We continue to spread the Good News that He is no longer among the dead but among the living, in our hearts and in our lives. That Good News sustains us not only throughout this life but is shared with us in the life to come, the kingdom of heaven.
May these days of the Easter Season continue to renew your lives and bring you God’s unfailing presence.
