Last Sunday morning as I went out the back door of the rectory to take Abby out, the sun was just rising. I was captivated by the beautiful, vibrant colors of the tulips and daffodils along with the flowering shrubs along the edge of the parking lot. While it was a little chilly, clearly spring had sprung and the signs were everywhere. The trees are all green with the color of new buds and the birds sing sweetly from their branches.
This time of year always signals the celebration of First Holy Communion for our second graders. This weekend and next we will be celebrating this wonderful sacrament and an important step for these little ones in the process of becoming fully initiated Catholics. It is a significant day not only for all these families but also for the parish family of St. Michael’s. Their final sacrament of initiation will be their Confirmation some years down the road. In the meantime let’s keep them in our prayers that they will grow in their faith as they grow in all other areas of knowledge.
As I mentioned at the Masses last weekend, Fr. Ron St. Pierre has agreed to stay on for a couple of more weeks to help me along this journey. While I am able to do a lot more than I was I am not fully back to myself. His presence is and will be helpful as we move through this busy time of year with a number of weddings coming up.
HAPPY SPRING!
