FR. RON’S RAMBLINGS!
Last week Abby had a birthday! She was four years old on March 1st and while she didn’t seem to notice, others did! She received cards and toys and best of all, bags of treats. It’s hard to believe that it has been four years since she arrived as a small, squirming puppy. She has grown into a wonderful companion who always stays close by my side!
Speaking of time flying (as I do so often) today we celebrate the Fifth Sunday in Lent and the last full week before Palm Sunday and Holy Week. Seems like Ash Wednesday was just yesterday. If we have allowed this time to slip by, it’s not too late to take stock and to make the most of these last days.
This afternoon at 4 p.m. as I mentioned last week, we will have our annual Penance Service. This is a good opportunity to formally take stock of our lives and to turn to God for His unending Mercy and Forgiveness.
Today’s gospel reading focuses on that very theme. Jesus offered forgiveness and mercy to the woman caught in adultery. She turns her life around and we know became a follower of Jesus.
As we turn our clocks ahead this weekend and we begin to feel spring in the air, may we too come to life anew in the love and the unending mercy of our God!
