FR. RON’S RAMBLINGS!
On Monday morning, January 11 I opened my mail box to discover Andrew’s letter of resignation. This came totally unexpectedly and out of the blue. I am sorry that he has left, especially with so little notice and explanation. We wish him well in whatever his future holds for him.
One of the things I have come to realize over the years is that staff changes can happen like this with no advance knowledge. But I also have come to realize that God provides for us and will once again. We ask for your patience as we go through this transition period.
This week we will be celebrating Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten Season. The insert in our bulletin this weekend provides specifics about ways we can observe this season.
Every year these forty days are set apart in our liturgical calendar to prepare for the celebration of the great mysteries of our faith: the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus as the fulfillment of His mission among us.
Jesus spent forty days in the desert, one of the scriptura place where people traditionally encounter God. While Jesus encounter evil, He ultimately met His Father who strengthened Him and sent Him forth into His ministry.
So we commemorate that desert experience in our Lenten space in the sanctuary as we hear God’s call to each of us” Comeback to me, with all your hearts Do not let fear keep us apart. May we be renewed and refreshed in God’s loving mercy during these upcoming days!
