FR. RON'S RAMBLINGS
FOR THE 32ND SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME
NOVMEBER 6, 2016
Now that we have celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation
this year, our confirmation coordinator, Brian Sousa,
is embarking on a new service project for current students.
Our hope is to involve as many in the parish as possible.
Brian will be organizing a “gently used” clothing drive
to help clothe the homeless people in the Lowell area. As
the winter months approach, we all can well understand
the need for warm clothing for those without shelter. There
is a homeless ministry based at St. Francis Parish in Dracut
that Brian has been involved with. The need for this clothing
is great.
The target dates for collecting CLEAN used clothing
will be November 19 and 20, and December 5 and 6. Donations
can be dropped off at the garage in the parish center
(my personal donation!!). We will have adult and teen
volunteers there to accept the clothing.
There will be an insert in an upcoming bulletin which
will list the specific clothing needs and the hours that they
will be accepted.
We all have a desire to carry out the wonderful works of
mercy for those in need. Already as a parish we do much
in terms of donating food to the hungry. This is a very real
opportunity to follow Jesus’ command to ‘clothes the naked’.
And of course every one of us can look in our closets
and see that we have more clothing than we need!
This will be a great community builder as we become
ever more conscious of those in need and our responsibility
to reach out and help.
