June 26, 2016
As we begin this final week in June, we have officially crossed over into our summer season. Today as I write this we are experiencing the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. Six months from today it will be the winter solstice and Christmas will be on our doorstep. We have a few miles to go before that happens!
We have been informed that our African priest will be arriving on Thursday, June 30 and will remain with us the rest of the summer. We do not have his name yet but we look forward to welcoming him. I did hear from Fr. Chris from last summer. He told me that he is returning to Massachusetts this summer as well but probably will not be here with us. Fr. Julius from several summers ago is also coming back this year but I don’t think he will be with us.
We have had such a wide variety of personalities from Africa with us over the years. It has always been enriching and enlightening to hear about church and ministry in a different continent with a different culture and politics.
Once again our thanks to Fr. Peter for his presence and help and may his reentry in Ireland be smooth!
