This week we say goodbye to Fr. Peter once again as he completes his month long visit with us. Every year it is a pleasure to have him but every year his month seems to fly by faster and faster. He had quite a bit of good weather, did some American shopping and touring and filled his time with sun and reading and walking around Hudson. He looks forward to returning next year and we anticipate his visit as well. Bon Voyage Fr. Peter.
I appreciated his helping me to get away for a week and to enjoy some sun and relaxation myself. Abby was her usual flexible self, enjoying the company of those around the parish center…including a couple of her canine friends. She was happy to see me and sticks close by my side.
Fr. Adriano extends his apologies to all who were inconvenienced by his not showing up for the Masses that weekend. He had misread his calendar and got confused.
This weekend of course we celebrate Father’s Day. As your families gather to celebrate fathers, living and deceased, it is a perfect opportunity for us to reflect on God the Father. As we know the scriptures are all about God revealing Himself to us as He is. And one of the ongoing revelations is that God is indeed our Father. We encounter that person of God especially in the Old Testament. He embodies so many fatherly traits: Guide, protector, creator, provider, and safe haven!
Our human Fathers may not be perfect as our Father in heaven, but we thank them for the ways they “fathered’ us through the years and did the best they could.
And so to a, living and deceased:
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!!
