FR. RON'S RAMBLINGS
JESUS CHRIST KING OF THE UNIVERSE
NOVEMBER 20, 2016
All week I have been hearing about the super moon and how it will be closer to the earth than it has been in sixty eight years. Well, when I got up in the middle of the night last night, the whole neighborhood was illuminated as if a gigantic fluorescent light was in the sky! A full moon always signifies the fall season and the coming of Thanksgiving. As we look around the trees have mostly shed their leaves and the mornings are certainly chilly and brisque. Winter is just around the corner.
Before that happens we must celebrate the harvest and the good things God continues to provide for us all. This Thursday of course is Thanksgiving Day and as we do each year, we will be gathering with those who mean the most and preparing a special feast. Fr. Bob and I (along with Abby and Honey) will be hosting once again in our Uxbridge home. As a parish we will be celebrating and giving thanks at our Thanksgiving Day Mass at 8 a.m. on Thursday morning. This is an annual event which draws many of us together to pause and to thank God before the festivities of the day – football games, family gatherings and of course the turkey dinner. I would like to personally invite each of you to come and share this very special time. It is a wonderful way to begin the day as a parish family and to move on to our individual celebrations.
This weekend we are celebrating First Penance/Reconciliation on Saturday with all the children who are preparing for their First Holy Communion in the spring. As these little ones come before and seek His loving mercy, I ask that you remember them in your prayers as well, that the Love of God will always envelop them and lead them closer to His heart.
Next weekend we once again enter that beautiful season of Advent that offers us a preparation time before Christmas. May we all come to experience the peace and tranquility that this season brings.
