FR. RON’S RAMBLINGS
!
Often when I walk out of the rectory on these arm summer days I smell the aroma of those who are cooking on their grills. This season is especially characterized by outdoor barbecues and get togethers. After a long winter we are anxious to take advantage of the good weather before the cold settles in again.
This weekend’s scriptures are also about feeding people outdoors. Elisha feeds a hundred people in the first reading with a small amount of barley loaves; and Jesus feeds the five thousand plus with five barley loaves and two fish. All the spectators are in awe of what they have witnessed and they have been satisfied.
Jesus so often takes the situation at hand and turns it into an opportunity to teach people about God. Here he uses our hunger to show us how God provides for us even more than we need. We tend to take that for granted; perhaps those in awe in our readings can teach us a lesson about the abundance of God’s love and we can step back and share in that awe as well!
Fr. Chris continues to thrive here in Hudson. HE has had a number of experiences seeing various parts of Massachusetts and there are others planned. But he still has plenty of time for more before he leaves us at the end of August.
HE has begun to take Abby for long walks after supper each night. Abby had her annual vet’s visit last week and has gained weight over the year. Chris is on a mission to help her lose it! Now if I can just get everyone else to stop feeding her!!!
Hope you are staying cool and comfortable during these warm day and not overeating either!
