THE FEAST OF THE EPIPHANY
Today we come together to celebrate this wonderful Feast of the Epiphany. Today we recall the age-old story of the three Magi who travelled from the East, in search of the newborn king of the Jews, the long awaited one who would save them and offer them salvation. And the symbol of this journey was that bright star which led their way.
As we listen once again to the details, this particular story draws us in and seems to capture the essence of the Nativity: Jesus came to save all those who came to believe in Him, not just the Jewish people. Jesus invites us to follow the stars in our own lives that lead to the places where He is born for us.
As this New Year stretches before us we too are in need of a clear guiding light. The Magi found one and persisted in following its lead. That persistence led to the discovery of the divine and even more than they bargained for. So much so that they fell down in homage at the sight and presented their precious gifts.
May we find the many places Jesus chooses to be born into our lives all during these days of 2017. May we take the time to bow down and worship. And may we allow this newborn child to touch us and to transform us and to lead us to the gift of life He has to offer us.
