As we celebrate Palm Sunday today, we enter into the holiest week of the year. For all of Lent, we have been preparing to celebrate the great events of our redemption. Jesus enters the city of Jerusalem amid hosannas and palm fronds. The crowds greeted Him as THE prophet and welcomed Him with open arms. Only days later, they were to call for his death by crucifixion.
We all know the story and we’ve heard all our lives and yet there remains a poignancy and heart wrenching thread that never grows old. Each time we read the Passion of the Lord, we are moved by the generosity of God’s love for us.
In recent years, there have been a number of movies produced about the life of Christ. With today’s technology, His final days among us have been graphically depicted. This make His suffering and death and Resurrection all the more real and vivid as we listen to the accounts in the Gospels.
The Sacred Triduum is Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. Each day is marked by a solemn celebration of the happenings to Jesus and His apostles. Each year, we invite you to these solemn and moving services at 7pm each evening. And each year, we have seen an increasing number in attendance. One cannot help have their faith renewed and revitalized by the great Paschal Mystery of Redemption.
Please consider taking the time each evening to remember and relive the essence of our faith.
“Lord let me walk that lonely road with you,
under the weight of the wood.”
