Catechist Covenant
with St. Michael Parish, Hudson, MA
Mandated by the 1989 Archdiocese of Boston Synod document "Pastoral Guidelines and Policies" page 5106, "Catechetical leaders are to interview prospective catechists in relation to the qualities expected of those who serve in the catechetical ministry."
With regard to competency "candidates will be certified at the basic level... and are expected to participate in programs of in-service and formation intended to assist them in the exercise of their catechetical responsibility." page 5107 (ex. Parish Ministry Formation Program).
Further, a catechist is one who is a living witness to the faith through regular participation in the sacramental and liturgical life of the Catholic Church.
A catechist is a witness and role model to children and youth who recognizes the importance of living in and witnessing to the Church's moral teachings.
In light of these synodal statements and parish expectations, I agree to abide by the terms of this covenant
