Each year as we celebrate the powerful mysteries of the sacred Triduum and Easter Sunday, they seem to be more meaningful. So many generous people, particularly our devoted staff and liturgy committee, worked tirelessly to insure that our Holy Week services were celebrated with reverence and dignity. This year I was likewise impressed with the deep faith of so many who attended each evening of the Triduum. I have been in a lot of parishes over the years and I have never experienced such faithfulness to Holy Week.
We now move into the fifty days of the Easter Season. The amount of time that the Church sets aside each year for this season simply reminds us of the importance of the Resurrection as the center and the core of our faith.
My sister, Sam and I spent a quiet but nice Easter Sunday, sharing a meal and some memories. Thankfully she understands of my weariness on Easter – read and falling asleep!! Sam didn’t have an Easter basket but he had plenty to eat and knew it was a special day.
May this season bring us all the refreshment and renewal which the Resurrection of Jesus promises.
