Our goal in life is to attain happiness that knows no boundaries. Jesus Christ came to show us that this is possible when we believe in Him and put our faith into action. The Holy Bible is saturated with stories of people who put their faith to work.
In my few weeks among you at St. Michael Parish, I have seen faith in action. The summer vacation excitement could not stop me from partaking and enriching myself deeply. Our lives as faithful followers of Christ Jesus is made real in sincere worship and faith sharing.
Each day I wake up, I am so humbled and grateful to this awesome God for His words planted in the hearts of men and women around the world. A day does not pass by without a thought in my mind about my parishioners at home. I am a pastor of around one thousand souls that eagerly await their priest who has journeyed abroad to witness and bring home much needed incentives to help alleviate the parish needs
To be an authentic follower of Jesus Christ is to partake in His life. No follower of Christ should shy away from the realities of the Gospel. He said in today’s gospel
"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.” The Lord shares Himself with us. He gives all of Himself to us. He revives and turns our attention to a new way of living which brings eternal joy.
Believe me, the heart is one of the most important organs in the entire human body. The heart pumps the blood, which carries all the vital materials which help our bodies function and removes the waste products that we do not need. The most interesting thing about the heart is that it keeps nothing to itself. The heart is alive because it takes joy in sharing. The Lord’s heart is called
“Sacred Heart” because it keeps giving.
The words of the well-known Negro spiritual express a timeless ideal:
“Lord, I want to be like Jesus, in my heart.” May it be so. Amen and amen.
