After staying with us for a few weeks, Fr. Peter has returned to Ireland. It is always a pleasure to have him with us and to share life in the rectory. The month has gone all too quickly and I will miss him. We look forward to his visit with us next year!
Memorial Day this year found us gathered in the church since the rains took precedence!! Nearly 400 people observed this wonderful tradition. As we left church the sun came out! However our spirits were not dampened and it was a warm, reverent celebration.
This weekend we celebrate the wonderful Feast of Pentecost. Traditionally this is known as the birth of the church as God’s sends His Spirit among the early apostles and sends them forth to preach the Good News of Jesus. As we read about those early years we see just how active that Spirit was in directing and guiding the development of the early church.
We believe that God’s Spirit is just as alive and present in our church today. Here at St. Michael’s we have begun distributing the newly published Parish Picture Directory. One section is devoted to pictures of parish ministries and activities. With just a glance it becomes very evident how God’s Spirit is alive in our parish community!
A special note of thanks to all those who made this parish project so successful. It takes many people to coordinate such an undertaking and there were many willing to help. Our parish staff spent hours getting this directory prepared. And Andy Vickery, our web master, provided most (if not all) of the activity pictures and did much of the set up.
And thanks to all of you who had your pictures taken. Without you there would be no picture directory!!!
