I thought a further update on the school buildings might be in order. Because of an unforeseen delay, we have not yet passed papers on the sale. It should be soon. With that said, the removal of asbestos materials has begun for both buildings. As everyone knows, that is a hazardous process and is done with the utmost care.
I have received several requests from alumni. One request was to have a walk through one last time. Obviously with the asbestos situation, that will not be possible. NO ONE except the workers are allowed inside the buildings at any time.
I have also been asked about important memorabilia that may remain. All the trophies and sport banners from Hudson Catholic will be going to the Hudson Historical Society where they will be available for ALL to see.
The vast majority of furnishings have been given to other schools that had those needs. Since the archdiocese technically still owns the property, all furnishings are theirs and they dictate further use. Catholic schools have first priority. Bricks and floors are not ours to give away or sell or whatever else some have suggested. I appreciate the sentimental value involved here but I am not in a position to grant such permissions.
This has been a long and complex process but the end does seem to be in sight.
I understand that parking continues to be a challenge and I thank you for your patience.
Let’s hope that as the snows continue to melt more spaces will become available. Spring is on the way!!
