As I write these words the weather forecast is for another hot and humid summer day. Even the grass around the church which is watered by an automatic sprinkler system is turning yellow. Such a drought we haven’t seen in a while. The grass in our new parking is even worse as it has no water source. I have been investigating some alternatives to help improve those areas.
Speaking of the parking lot, many of you I am sure have noticed that memorial to our schools which has been erected in the corner near the rectory. One of our young parishioners, Anthony Mollica (also a lector at the 9 a.m. Mass) created this memorial as his Eagle Scout Project. The cornerstone and other pieces of St. Michael’s school building along with the large sign, were salvaged by Anthony and his father in order to design this space. With some help from other scouts, he dug and poured foundations and landscaped the area. His hard work has resulted in a very attractive and permanent memorial to our schools.
Thank you Anthony for your hard work and we wish you Godspeed as you head off to college this fall.
On another note, Fr. William seems to be settling well into life at St. Michael’s. He has warmed up to Abby who loves everyone who gives her attention and takes her for walks!
Stay cool and I hope these days bring everyone some refreshment!
