The Baptism Robe Making Ministry is parishioners who sew the white robes presented to each newly baptized infant during the Baptism ceremony. This ministry emphasizes the desire of the parish to support and share in the joy of each infant’s Baptism.
The preparation of each garment includes cutting out the fabric, sewing the edges by machine, attaching an iron on cross on the front of the garment and pressing. The final step is placing the garment in a plastic bag. The completed garments are then kept in the sacristy until needed.
When the child is presented before the priest or deacon for Baptism, he or she wears the white garment created by the hands of volunteers.
The garment is given to the family as a remembrance of their child’s receiving their first sacrament, one of faith.
The Baptism Robe Ministry is always looking for new volunteers to help us meet this need for our growing parish.
